Just curious:
1) Cut-scenes/Videos don't play, how do I get them to play. (I can open them in Play Movies, but they don't show up in the game!)
2) It won't read the RedBook audio, even when the CD is in the drive.

How do I fix this?

Absolutely amazing, I love being able to play D2 again.

(D2X-Xl v1.6.70 w32)
I have Sidewinder Precision Pro 2, I've got all buttons on stick to work. Only problem is turn axis acts correctly when turning left, but is 75% slower when turning right. I have tryed adjusting sensitivity & deadzone but does not correct right turning issue. If I turn sensitivity all the way up on just that axis nothing changes. When they are all bound, you can notice the slight increase, but everything else is effected & is increased. I play D3 just fine & radius of turning is not affected on other games, which leads me to think it is a bug.

Why do I feel like I am being ignored? You haven't replied or fixed any bugs from my last 2 posts.
Anyway, with the keyboard, the afterburner's 2nd mapping doesn't do anything.
In the config, highlighting \"Toggle Icons\" then pressing up goes left.
Why are the explosions for Laser L1 cyan?
When zooming, my marker cam starts shaking.

But it would be nice to at least acknowledge the bugs and let us know whether you plan to fix them or not. :P

I have a life. I read all bug reports, and sooner or later I fix most of them (and maybe even all of them, if you wait long enough).

But please consider that I am doing all that for free, that it is a *lot* of work, and that I have a life.

The Linux music bug should be fixed now, courtesy zelurker, btw.

You guys really have no idea how much work has gone into D2X-XL. ;)

I really have to sort bug reports into important and not so important ones, and I must admit music belongs to the latter category for me, shaky markers cams or broken 2ndary controls as well. :roll:

I have the extra ps movies installed. I start D2x-xl and see the interplay and parallax movies. I hit new game, counterstrike. I starts the D2 intro movie and the captions start up saying "[COMPUTER1]: "VALHALLA TOWER TO HAWKEYE 3, REPORT PLEASE..." which is normal. But I hit enter to skip the movie so it starts playing the one where I see my ship fly into the planet. During THAT movie the captions repeat saying "[COMPUTER1]: "VALHALLA TOWER TO HAWKEYE 3, REPORT PLEASE..." again.

I'm not having any probs that Tim is having.
Playback of demos and intros work fine.

One small thing I did notice.

v1.6.72
I've turned off \"captions\" and yet they play anyways.

If you go into config and turn them off. Captions are off, but when you exit D2x-xl and then start D2x-xl again.
The captions are back on. I looked at the config settings in D2x-xl, and they are showing to be off.
Even so, the captions still play anyways.

Tim, what system specs do you have on all the PCs you tested on?
CPU
Memory
Vid card - driver version
OS
d2x-xl version
d2x.ini - switches

These things help when posting a bug. :wink:

Aus-RED-5,

do you have a -subtitles switch in d2x.ini? Because for me, subtitle control via the render options menu works even if I leave and restart D2X-XL, but that switch would override the menu setting.

Now the demos work fine :D . Must have been that smoke thing that you changed.
The wildfire messages are mixed up and pressing up on \"toggle icons\" still goes left. I also noted that pressing down on it goes up one instead of wrapping.
At least my afterburner works :lol: .
But why are the lasers exploding with their inverted colors?

Edit: Just remembered another one, entropy (possibly all bot-less multiplayer games), seems to remove cambots, which are a big part of my level.

A couple minor things.

--D1 levels seem to use the D2 reactor escape timings. i.e. -- 90 seconds on trainee, 75 on rookie, 60 on hotshot, etc. D1 timings should be 60 seconds, 50 seconds, 40 seconds (approx, I think, I don't have the original D1 installed to check - can someone verify this? I distinctly remember having much less than 60 seconds on hotshot.

--Whenever I find a secret exit in D1, I start in the secret level with 0 Energy. Good thing minibosses are fairly easy to take out with concs and vulcan -- and there's that nice stockpile of energy behind the fan to your right in the level 10 secret; still, it *would* be nice to be able to just open up on the big purple guy with some nice plasma rounds :P

Just checked. 50, 45, 40 for the first three... haven't checked the last two but one can guess.

We were finally able to get a multiplayer game going over at HLP and it generally worked well. There were some bugs we encountered that I thought I should bring up:

The reactor was sometimes missing. In its place was what looked like an idle D1 Heavy Driller and could actually be picked up, although it had no effect. The reactor worked fine in the first game, but the other three I started up all exhibited this problem.

The kill limits don't seem to work; the game keeps on going when the kill limit is reached.

The time limit setting has a very minor bug where if you set it to something higher than 0, leave the game options menu and go back into it, it shows the time limit as 0 even though the slider is at the right point.

If you uncheck the \"Use weapon hotkeys\" option (accidentally did that once), the text changes into \"Joy Y deadzone: 1%\" and stays that way until the game is restarted.

Lastly, the ship texture alignments got messed up after we had played for a while. I noticed the textures on Mars's ship looking all funny in one of our games and they stayed like that for the rest of the game.

Version history not being displayed fixed.

Couldn't reproduce kill limit problem; was probably related to missing reactor (not sure about this though).

Couldn't reproduce time limit menu bug.

I have fixed a texture management problem that may have caused messed up ship textures (not sure about this as well).

First off, My D2xl works really well.(gotta love that smoke amungst all other things,hehe awesome!!)
I only have this texture thing happening when going for the D1 levels.Im not sure if its a bug or something Ive done or havent done.I read about 40 pages on the (XL bugs)forums and hopfully I didnt miss anything.

Couple of Bug in 1.6.76

Grated door have no animation nore are the transparent anymore. :(

This bug is probably related to what DizzyRox has reported. A fix is underway.

As for grated door probs.
Found that changing -gl_alttexmerge 0 to 1 fixed the texure for grated doors.
1 small prob. Even though the doors are animated now.
When you shoot one door. All grated doors open! :o

Can't reproduce render problem, but can reproduce 'all grated doors open simultaneously'. :?

Why only these, and not all of them?

Edit: It happens for all hires doors. :oops:

Weird, weird.
Ok.. do the following.

Open DLE-XP.

Scroll down to the light textures.

Right click on "ceil023 - light" texture and then save the lvl (choose any name u want) into the mission's folder.

Now Start D2x-xl and load the lvl you just made in SP mission.

This is what you should see.

Keep in mind that this is not a DLE-XP problem.
You'll get the same results with DMB2. ;)

I just found out that this particular hires texture is lacking the alpha channel masking the transparent areas.

Door problem fixed, btw. Pretty tricky problem. :shock:

Hello....I'm back ^^ back to annoy with my ever-so-detailed bug reports >:)

1) My monitor is very annyoing when it comes to switching screen resolutions. I notice that the pilot selection screen is always at 640x480, then switches to my default 1280x1024 at the main menu. Adding -1028x1024 and -pilot Kirby to d2x.ini does nothing with preventing that unnecessary screen resolution change

2) During the player's death sequence, the entire screen is engulfed by the engine flames (most of the time, but not always)

3) I will have to agree that Light Maps cause more problems....and looks uglier too. This animated image shows the difference when all light sources are blown up in the area
