Post yer desktop for August here!

Mine's all... Officers' Battlepod...ish, AKA in Battletech, the \"unseen\" Marauder.
I took various screenshots of it while watching Robotech: The Macross Saga volume 2 on Power DVD(the software that plays DVDs on your computer).

Current one on the family PC is Rake's shield orb render. I think the one on my own machine is a kickass FS2_Open screenshot of the HTL Elysium model in front of a nebula, but since it has no Internet connection for the summer, it's been several days since I last turned it on. :P

Wow August already.

Here is mine. I just watched through Elfen Lied again. I had forgotten how good the story was! Back to Elfen Lied wallpaper:

Hey Stickman, nice to see you got the water working. I just got this radeon working too, but sadly it is not nearly as stable as my old geforce4 was in xgl. The water does work for me now as well but it kills performance. There must still be something wrong with my config.

Indeed. Linux has the capability to draw the whole desktop entirely in 3D (using a version of X called Xgl) and you can run a window manager called Compiz which has tons of effects, like the cube, water splashes, wobbly windows, zooming, transparency, and a bunch of others. That's why Xam and I were laughing when everybody started ranting about Windows Vista... we're already using 3D desktop effects with half the hardware specs that Vista requires.

BTW, Xam, I've never heard of Elfen Leid, looks interesting. Where should I start watching?

Er... *cough* It's actually very controversial. Never watched it myself, but from the reactions I've heard, some people like it, but others find it disgusting.

Extreme levels of violence and nudity, basically.

If you can tolerate that, though, you might like it, who knows.

Ahh cool. I'm JUST getting into linux myself, but I'll wait on something like this until I get a better handle on it. Very cool.

heh. Kinda funny how MS is suddenly playing "catchup" with everyone else.
