Logitech G25 Racing Wheel

Post by CDN_Merlin »

WOW. Got mine Thursday and man I'm in love.

Paid $300 CDN in total and well worth it. GTR 2 has never been the same. I'm a bit slower now because I was used to paddle shifting and no clutch but it's definitely more fun using clutch and H style shifter.

If you like SIMS, then I'd recommend this wheel. Get it while it's available since it's a limited edition wheel and it's selling out faster than if a Pyro really existed.

Looks peachy, but it's a shame the driver support is limited to XP and Vista (some of us will insist on living in the past).

What you mean limited? It works flawlessly in Windows.

The page you cited lists XP or Vista as a requirement. Do you use it under Win98 SE? My understanding is that Logitech has discontinued support for Win9x in more recent versions of the WingMan software as well.

Ahh ok. But you have to realize that even MS has stopped support on OSs older than XP with the exception of 98SE and that will end soon also.

Any chance this might work with an XBox?

a lot of good ideas in this, i'm especially liking the carpet grip. But worth spending $300US on when other steering wheels are under $50?

actually, here's a question i've always wondered: why does no-one invent a forcefeedback clutch?

I'm sure there are some out there but If you don't want to spend $300 on this one, you won't want to know the pricing of custom wheels and pedal sets.

I bet that sucker would work in Win98.... it would be a trip to try it with Mobil 1 Rally with a real clutch pedal and shifter!

I need to make a sim racing cabinet, I really do. Check out www.rscnet.org for ideas...

Merlin, what'cha going to be playing with it?

Wow, that thing is awesome.

Dunno about the clutch, though..I suppose older games would ignore it. Do the new games work well with it? Can it be disabled? Two pedals on the floor make the base jump around enough that I had to add weights to it..I can't imagine trying to wrestle three.

The shifter can act like a straight up/down which most of the older games support. The H style works in GTR and GTR2 and GT Legends.

The pedals are heavy enough but it has a carpet catcher underneath it. I had to move my plastic floor mat for it to work. It does keep it in place. The tension on all hree pedals are different. Getting used to it will be fun. The brake is the stiffest of them all.

All in all, I love this wheel. It feels great and with 900 degrees rotation, it's awesome.
