Some Photos

Post by Cyclone »

Hey,

I am putting together a calendar and these are some images I may put in it depending on the crits I get on them. I'm just not sure which one i should choose. I thought the first two looked like some sort of portal (think star trek episode)

Comments and crits welcome. Thanks :)

The only post work done to these photos were Levels adjustment, cropping and one small white spec I used clone tool on.

Even though the trees are upside down? That was the basis of exclusion for me.

I'd say the first one.
But it looks unnatural. I'f you're trying to get a natural-type calendar, I would reccomend just getting a different pic. The third one just looks akward.

Is that unnatural in good way or bad? This calendar is a bit of a mix.

hmm guess the black and white ones are out. These 4 photos were a bit of an experiment to see what people think. Feel free to bash them if they aren't very good.

Well I messed with the colour some more and cropped it in a bit closer. Not really a photo anymore, more digital art.

Kind of reminds me of the classic Trek episode \"City on the Edge of Forever\" :)

The 3rd one does look nicer. But I like the 5th picture.

Edit.

I prefer the regular form over the blue form.
And when I say Unnatural, I mean \"bad if it's a general nature theme, but good if it's a general mystical theme\".

What do you guys think of the new version I created (#5) better or worse then the first 4?

I believe you composed the photo incorrectly, and therefore it can't be made to look \"natural\" because when the trees are the right way up, the surface retreats away from you at the bottom instead of the top. This makes it look like the water is sitting in a pool of water on the ceiling of a cave.

The image itself is very nice, and I like #1 the best, but I think everyone who sees it will know there is something wrong with it, even if they can't figure out what it is.

I'd have taken the photo without the trees reflected in the water, and then I'd have composited the trees into the surface of the water, from another photo.
