Yeah unfortunately we develop things the right way... proven gameplay and code first, art second.
We got hired to make Orion Wing. Well sort of. We're all getting paid to make a 6DoF shooter on the Source engine now. It's been a blast.
There's a bunch of trip photos from our ventures to Valve and Seattle here:

Unfortunately I forgot my digital when we went to Valve so I had to settle for my camera phone

Wow, wait.... so Valve is hiring you guys to build this on the Source Engine? Valve.... wants to produce a 6DoF title? Man, I would love to see a game like this on the Source engine. Make a multi-only game and slap it up on Steam and you could get some decent pay for it.
Though, I really hope it doesn't look like a bunch of RC ships flying around by the time you ship. I wouldn't bet on 5 months either for a game like this.

Yeah, I'll say. Based on that screenshot, five months looks like a tough run, especially when you're working on something as demanding an capable as Source.Zanboo wrote:Gameplay and code is almost complete, now art assets have to catch up.
Luckily, with Steam, you can always push out better graphics down the road. Good luck, and I hope you don't have to rely on that. This looks like it could be freakin' sweet.
Re:
Yep. Sorry I can't post more, I just had that set as my current desktop and thought it was fun. I probably broke my NDA but isn't that what rules are for?ArcherOmega wrote: Don't lose the momentum here...can we add "tri-chording" to these sound bytes?
Most of you know the capabilities of the Source engine, so I don't need to tell you we will be taking full advantage of them. We're working off the source of Episode 2 (unreleased) not Episode 1/HL2. So that gives us a lot of extra features you guys haven't seen (watch the Ep 2 trailers closely) and should be excited about.

Heh, one of the most fun things to do imho is to go through the moddb that lists mods for all sorts of games.
you see these games with STELLAR art. Those are the ones you want to click, because usually they are 10-15% code complete, either have a programmer who works once a week or no programmer at all and are 'plugging' those assets in to the base code of the game they are modding, just to show off the art. It's the main reason you see mods that look almost done take years to complete or fall off the face of the earth, because they started at the roof and forgot to build the foundation.
