Winner is?

My old Voodoo 3. :P
No no, kidding aside, this 9800 just ROCKS my house. Everything is just so much more crisper and fast.

Enabling some good 8x FSAA should take care of both of those issues!

my boss just built a computer with a P4 3.2, 1Gb ram, and a 9800XT. Got 444 fps in D3 with default everything. I was actually expecting faster than that, but it's a great card. Bitchin' fast, even :)

For one thing, I can use a higher res and get the same FPS in the games. And everything is sharper even using only 4x AA and 2X AF

you mean you can use high resolution and 2xaf.... AA hasnt worked in d3 for any of the driver sets put out by ati... it is a known problem, ati doesnt seem to care to fix it.
Not to mention that with the 4.2 drivers, opengl "skipps" now.... there is a very distinctive pause every few seconds while moving around. this is the reason i had to sell off my old 7200 aiw a few years back. these poor cards started out bad and only got worse, the skipping in d3 never got fixed.

I sure hope this driver set happened to be a fluke and not a trend as it was with my old card. Other wise you can expect your 9800 to only play d3 good for another year before the drivers get poor support

I also went from a 4400 to a 9800 Pro. Nice jump, especially in BF1942.

Thats like saying, yeah the Pentium 4 3.4GHz EE beat the Athlon XP 2500.

Of course the performance rocks.

Radeons are good, but a little too expensive for their performance.

That's why I stick with nVidia.

But, the Radeon 9800 is a major improvement over the GeForce 4 Ti 4400. :P

Considering I paid 300$ for my 4400 2 yrs ago and I paid 300$ for the 9800, I'm more happy with the 9800 but thats a given since it's newer.
