You have to love spam sometimes...

Here is an email I received recently through my website...
Dear Mr. Robert **** ,

This is an automated email that confirms the registration of your complaint case number : #DF4B95 filed by Cyclotek on September 17/2007 concerning Online Identity Theft.

While Better Business Bureau does not resolve individual consumer problems, your complaint helps us investigate fraud, and can lead to law enforcement action.

You can download a copy of your complaint from h.ttp://cdgo.net/documentary/images/uploads/new.php?Cyclotek.pdf .Please print and keep this copy for your personal records.
We use secure socket layer (SSL) encryption to protect the transmission of the information you submit to us when you use our secure online forms. The information you provided to us is stored securely.

The BBB strongly encourages consumers to first attempt to resolve complaints directly with the company, however the BBB will not reject a complaint if a consumer has not taken this step. All complaints are processed by local Better Business Bureaus, most often the Bureau where the company is located. Historically, over 70% of complaints through the BBB are resolved. In some cases, BBB mediation or arbitration may be offered to assist in resolution.

Your complaint will be forwarded to the company within two business days. The company will be asked to respond within 14 days, and if a response is not received, a second request will be made. You will be notified of the company's response when we receive it (or notified that we received no response). Complaints are usually closed within 30 calendar days.

The form you used to register this complaint is designed to improve public access to the Better Business Bureau of Consumer Protection Consumer Response Center, and is voluntary. Through this form, consumers may electronically register a complaint with the BBB.Under the Paperwork Reduction Act, as amended, an agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to, a collection of information unless it displays a currently valid OMB control number.

Our staff will keep you updated regarding the status of our investigation. To check the status of your complaint please access cdgo.net/documentary/images/uploads/new.php?Cyclotek.pdf
The link opened an .SCR file which contained no doubt, a virus or keylogger so, I did some digging and found his contact information...

So, I did what any person should do, I filed a complaint with the FTC and forwarded this email to Nelson...
Dear Nelson,

I have received your fraudulent email and did not open the file included rather I did submit a complaint to the FTC regarding your email. You should be hearing from them in a couple of days and quite possibly be looking forward to paying fines. You may have to check your states laws to find out if you'll also be spending some time in a federal prison although that of course depends on how cooperative you are.

Have a good day!
I realize nothing will probably come of this, but I'd love to see his face when he gets this email.

Sign him up for gay porn while you're at it. That will flood his box forever.

What difference does that make? The file was sent from his server. I believe that makes him responsible as it is his server. If it were somehow hacked into and this file was placed there, then he should have better security.

This was not the case as of this morning. Must have a lot of DBB'ers visiting eh? :D

I see a lot of this where I work. We have an NSO that does nothing but sit in his office and monitor spam mail, he is constantly tweaking the firewall and spam filters.

Seems like a stressful job to keep people's private data just that.

The file turned out to be a trojan, named TROJ_DROPPER.CQP by Trend Micro.

ROFLZ - Um yeah Testi can you contribute to that statement - no back pedaling now

I seem to have a better workout dodging your stupidity than attempting to grasp the weight of your intelligence.
