?How to import/export d3 lvls=3DS MAX

Post by jshaner »

I would like to take one or more of the existing d3 lvls (preferably apparition) and export them to a format 3ds can read, but i can't figure out how to do it. I think it would be cool to make a level in 3ds and export it to d3 too, (probably would involve d3edit somewhere). Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

The way I've done it was to open the level that you want in D3edit, join all rooms together, and the save off as a .orf, open it in the OOF editor, and save as .oof. Then get the 3DSgen from www.planetdescent.com which should convert it to .3ds. But for the terrain, you will probably need to tell it to export the Heightmap, and then create a plane in .3ds, and use the heightmap to change it...somehow.

Hope it helps!

I've never had an issues with textures using that method. I also imported it into 3DS just with the Import function for a 3DS...
