Have fun with your food!

Post by Nightshade »

Humans are like goats. We'll eat any damned thing. Just ask the people who make PowerBars.

In fact, you'll find foods in this world that don't even seem possible. Not just that they could exist, but that people would actually stick this stuff in their mouths without a gun to their head.

We've found six dishes that seemed to have sprung from Satan's own cookbook.

My mom's friend on her way to Italy back in the 80's was given a chocolate treat on board. She ate it, then asked what it was. She was sorry to ask. They were \"chocolate covered bumble bees\".

Casu Marzu
...the larvae themselves pass through the stomach undigested, sometimes surviving long enough to breed in the intestine, where they attempt to bore through the walls, causing vomiting and bloody diarrhea.
yeah that sounds like a really bad idea. No wonder they made it illegal. I can see how it might be a danger to public health for people to willingly infect themselves with parasites.
Do people not realise the risk? meh. i guess it's like eating blowfish - thrills@! danger!
Contact with lye can cause chemical burns, permanent scarring, blindness or total deliciousness,
LOL!

Everything else, i can fully understand how you'd eat it.

There's nothing amazing about eating Ant eggs, or fetuses, or chicken eggs.
IIRC when i was young in an asian restaurant (chinese?) i ate jellyfish and my dad ate chicken feet. Both were fine.
Bird feet are essentially like eating a lizard, as birds are descended from reptiles - their feathers are modified scales and their FEET ESSENTIALLY ARE STILL COVERED IN SCALES. I never really thought about that until i saw it mentioned in a youtube vid a few days ago. Yay education.

I actually really like the idea of INSECTS being a common food source. Fried insects look delicious, and must have the consitency of prawns fried in their shells (which i've had, and is quite nice!).
Also - eating insects must be like taking out the middle man. As many of the animals we eat - inturn eat insects. It's kinda like eating grain instead of feedign it to cows and then eating the cows - it's a lot more effecient. I dunno if i really want to eat raw or live insects though, i like the idea of them being cooked preferably fried as i said earlier.
When i watch documentaries about cultures who eat insects, i don't wince, i actually think it's a really good idea and i sit there saying \"man, i'd really like to try that, that looks good!\".

So yeah... i recon when humans goto space, insects and algae would be good and plentiful food sources.

Actually, eating an egg with an unhatched chick in it is the same as a \"normal\" egg plus some sperm :)
Hell, even your regular eggs could be fertilized :D
