[Linux Descent 3 PPS] Getting kicked from all servers

Post by thwart »

I am using Linux and can't join any server. I either get \"kicked because of low connection\" or some kind of pps thing. This happens immediately after joining. I have a 118 ms ping time. I asked over at PD and thought I would try here before using irc.

Any ideas what I can do?

Thanks in advance,

Never mind all. It started working OK again for no apparent reason?? I don't know if that is good or bad :)

Can someone familiar with the linux version of D3 explain how to set the PPS (packets per second) rate?

I only see the PPS setting mentioned if I start a game. Here is the output of the available switches

Code: Select all

In D3 for windows you can set the \"Network connection speed\". This value reflects the PPS and is stored in the registry. On a Mac, this setting is stored in a file name \"Descent Prefs\" as ConnectionSpeed = Fast, may be similar in the Linux version.

Right. Open the file \"~/.loki/descent3/.Descent3Registry\" and append the line:

\"ConnectionSpeed\"=\"Fast\"

Then you will be able to play on the DF.Net-servers for example.

Thanks, it worked. I had to add that line since it wasn't even in the file.
