all of these years I spent disagreeing with people. I was thinking it was OK to have a different opinion on a matter, but it appears I was wrong I'm really a racist.
In the past I've disagreed with my Black friends, My adopted Half-Black cousin, My Phillipino sister-inlaw,(my brothers wife) My Cambodian Sister-inlaw (my brother-inlaws wife) and my half Indonesian Daughter-inlaw.
I wish to put forward my sincerest applogies to anyone that I've ever disagreed with that was not 100% white. I now realise how terribly wrong I was, and thanks to Jimmy Carter revealing words I have seen the light and the error of my ways
I wonder if they make drugs to correct this problem?
Your point is well-taken. Disagreeing with someone different doesn't make one a racist.
Then again, having ethnic family/friends doesn't make one non-racist, either.
The crux of the matter is motive for what people say/do, and that's something very very difficult to prove, either way.
[Just to be clear: I don't think Cuda is racist at all. I'm agreeing with his overall point that racism (or the lack thereof) can't be reasonably inferred from simple opinion (or social status).]
I just had the chance to catch Jimmy Carter’s remarks, on The News Hour. Now, I always knew he was a dim bulb…but I never expected him to stoop to such despicable means to counter political dissent.
I can remember black guys back in the 60's would try to pick up white chicks, when their \"overture\" was rejected they would accuse the girl of being racist in the hope the girl would feel guilty and accept them. Not much has changed eh?
Come on, Woody, there are guys of every ethnicity who try to guilt women into things. The racism card (or reverse-racism card) gets played by people of every color as well. Don't act like it's only one group playing that game.
Come on - when it comes to booty I know guys who will try anything and say anything - the only rules they have are those set down by law, and spans a few cultures/races and such.
I bet there isn't 1 person in 10,000 who really, fully understands what \"racism\" is. But I'll tell you what's happening/happened in our society. People are being unjust, lawless, and destructive (wicked--just like the Bible says) and \"racism\" is just the latest double-edged tool for their primitive/foolish minds to wield against each other.
Here's how the racism is currently showing itself, it's in the lack of respect. The racism is showing up in a very alarming way right now towards the first black President ever elected, but most noticeably among older whites and people in the South. The racism is displaying itself by the noticeable fact that these people do not want to defer to the leadership of a black man, period. Disagreement concerning Obama's policies are just a convenient cover or even rationale for their displeasure. So how convenient it is that a white man from South Carolina is the FIRST Congressman to yell out in disrespect towards the FIRST black President during a Congressional speech. Yep!
As for Carter, he came from the Jim Crow South and lived through all that messy history. He's a probably much more likely and knowledgeable person to see the subtle forms of racism going on since he's seen it all before, so don't dismiss him so quickly.

You just said people who don't want to defer to Obama's leadership are racists for taking that position.
I guess you have some knowledge of everyone of these peoples character to be able to know they are lying when they have very publicly expressed dissatisfaction with his policies and not mentioned his race....or maybe you are one of the psychic friends network operators....
And apparently you think it is predominantly old white people and people in the south who are taking that position.
Do you have any data to support that demographic or did you just go with your gut on that one too?
Tell me, are all the black people who disagree with me racists?
And one final question, are you drunk right now?

That's a little bit harder for me to accept. Maybe. However, as a conservative and as someone who really appreciates the ideals that America was founded on, I know that there is definitely plenty to disagree with. You can't just go and try to turn the most free nation in the history of the world into the ideal socialist pipe-dream and blame all dissent on racism, whether it exists or not. Maybe some of these white folks are ignorant enough to disagree primarily with his color, but I find that uncanny intuition pretty convenient for his proponents (you).

tunnelcat's post is just a convenient cover or even rationale for her America-hating ways. ;)
If you're not a telepath, arguments about how other people's motives are secretly something other than what they seem aren't really effective. They're equivalent of conspiracy theories -- complex tales spun to explain things that don't really need a complex explanation.
There are a lot of "older, white" people who disagree with Obama's policies. You can attribute this to racism, but I think it's much simpler. A lot of "older, white" people worked and saved and invested to make a comfortable life for themselves and their children, and expensive, big-government policies are a threat to that.
uh.. isn't that the baby boomer generation? Like MY folks. People that endured administrations like Nixon and Johnson? They know a scam when they see one?
so when I disagreed with Hillary did that make me sexist? of how about Barney Frank does that make me a Homophobe? or how about Al Gore, since he's from the south does that mean I hate Rednecks?
this is typical. another ad-hominem attack by the left.
If we disagree with your stance you attack the individual as racist and try to discredit said individual. instead of trying to discuss the topic. you see that just show that your stance on a subject is weak and to push your agenda you MUST attack the individual. by doing this you acquire the mob mentality among your constituents and the shallow minded and you make it easier to deceive the slow witted people
edit: I looked this up after I posted.

Ad hominem abusive (also called argumentum ad personam) usually and most notoriously involves insulting or belittling one's opponent, but can also involve pointing out factual but ostensible character flaws or actions which are irrelevant to the opponent's argument. This tactic is logically fallacious because insults and even true negative facts about the opponent's personal character have nothing to do with the logical merits of the opponent's arguments or assertions.
This tactic is frequently employed as a propaganda tool among politicians who are attempting to influence the voter base in their favor through an appeal to emotion rather than by logical means, especially when their own position is logically weaker than their opponent's.
and as for Carter, he was an weak excuse for a President in 1978 and he's a doddering old fool today (DOH there I go again, hating those Rednecks )
[sarcasm]This would not have any thing to do with the fact that Obama being in office and it is a historic event and more people are watching him and seeing what he is going to do and not liking it. Nope it has to be all about race.[/sarcasm]
I'm sorry I'm not buying this putrid farce the socialist democratic party is puttting forth.
Dealing again with the issue, the first black U.S. president made clear Sunday that, while some of his critics and supporters surely are motivated by race, most of them are not.
I've gained a measure of respect for the man. now if the rest of those racist crying moron's would get on board the world would be a better place.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Disagreeing with Barney Frank makes you sane. That man gets under my skin, he doesn't take his job seriously, and the fact that he still has his seat after this financial collapse blows my mind.
