Balance the budget yourselves

Post by null0010 »

Today, you’re in charge of the nation’s finances. Some of your options have more short-term savings and some have more long-term savings. When you have closed the budget gaps for both 2015 and 2030, you are done. Make your own plan, then share it online.

Here is my plan.

edit: For some reason I can't get a link to show that I've selected letting all the Bush tax cuts expire, but know that I do, in fact, support that.

it isn't, but it is a really good exercise for ALL citizens to ponder. What do you cut, and how do you pay for what's left?

Some of the choices were much easier than others...

Damn, by capping Medicare growth we'll fix nearly 1/3 of the shortfall by 2030. That's pretty massive. Not sure if I would support that, but damn.
Also, of course, all the military options checked equals to 1/3 of the shortfall covered by 2030.
