If your going AM3 I can reliably recommend the MA99Fx pro R2.0. The graphical bios takes some getting used to, but with a mild OC I am maxing out 40c with excellent voltage stability. Very solid board.

yeah i look at that MB but its a bit costley and most of the features on it wont even be used cause Hyper-V server really doesnt have a gui its almost 100% commandline

Presumably not vGPU? That does make it easier to build the system at least. Depending how many VMs you plan to run, memory is usually the most critical requirement... 8 GB should allow a few, depending on OS of course... can pack a lot more XP VMs into a box than 64-bit Win7/Server 2008 R2/2012 ones.

P.S. Almost forgot - disk speed matters as well. This is one of the few places where a RAID array comes in handy.

yeah this will be bump up to 16gbs later on

right now my current is running 2008 Enterprise R1 (my DC) 2003 (WSUS and Web) OpenVPN (Ubuntu) and the duel core I have cant keep up.

i'm just worried about this 8 core AMD I think it will make a cheep server cause once I get it ill be also upgrading my DC to 2012 and still keep my other 3 also.
