Messenger blips 8KB every 10 seconds - anyone else see this?
Title says it: After my recent format C:, XP is running sweetly, but MSN messenger is weird! It keeps downloading 8KB/s once every ten seconds! WTF is up with that? Anyone else have this happen to them?
I'm gonna change versions and see if it cures the problem - because no version or install of MSN has ever behaved this way before - and what I want to know is this - what the hell is it down? What data is coming in? And why would MSN be requesting it??
Paranoia aside - I'd like to know!

What I dont understand is why anyone who uses XP would Install MSN Messenger 5.x + when you already have Windows Messenger 4.x Installed by default.......really?? is Video that important? that's is what Netmeeting is for! (start/run/conf to install on XP)
Make no attempt to say you do not have Windows Messenger 4.x unless you edited the registry in which ONLY THEN Windows Messenger 4.x became an available option in the add/remove program list and then you promptly uninstalled it.!! hahah
(Now if I am not mistaken, you need it anyways on one of the versions of MSN messenger 5.blah blah)
(not to be confused it with NETSEND or Messenger service)
Is there something I am missing.... not that I use that POS service

yes, the New Message Plus add-on by Patch-OU will not work with anything less than MSN 5.0. that addon gives you alot of kickass extras. and MSN 6.0 allows you to create your own emoticons.

A new release should be out anytime now.... However, theres a ****load of plugins to really enhance it. I just wish the next version would allow sending files over the AIM protocol.
