Store cleanliness depends on the franchisee. Stores are graded via QSC & V. The grading affects whether or not a franchisee will be allowed to purchase more franchises. If the grade is particularly low they have their liscences revoked and McOpCO takes control of the store.

McDonalds revolutionized all aspects of the food industry (not just fast food) particularly in quality control standards. More than 7% of Americans eat at a McDonalds restaurants each year. That alone translates to considerable market clout.

If any of you are interested look for this book

John.F.Love "McDonalds : Behind the arches"

I think you will be pleasantly suprised just how strict this real estate company is. Did I just say McDonalds is a real estate company? and I bet you thought it was in the burger business :P

umm you're a slave to the merchantile juggernaut.

Scary. Why not be creative and instead of paying to eat mickey D's figure out a way to get friends and relatives and strangers to give you their game pieces. :)

Then you can save a lot of money making those salads yourself.

Collecting those game pieces is a lot like arguing on the internet. I don't have that picture, but you get the idea.

Personally, I'm more concerned with the carcinogens, refined sugar and saturated fats in their food than I am about the cleanliness in their kitchen.

I'd rather suffer through a case of food poisoning than colon cancer, coronary artery disease or diabetes. But that's just me . . . :)

i once grabbed an OJ from macdonalds. it was full of refined sugar (my tastebuds are somewhat trained to detect it). pretty disappointing that i can't even get a healthy simple FRUIT JUICE from macdonalds.

Best point of the whole thread.

McDonalds itself ain't going to kill you. Now, if you went there every day and ordered the most overloaded fattening thing on the menu, then yes, you have reason to be concerned. But it's not unlike a myriad of other prepared foods. If you ate potato chips or tacos or chocolate cake every day for weeks, yeah, I'd say you'd probably have some health issues.

It's why that pseudo-documentary on the man who ate McDonalds for 28 days straight is meaningless. We all know it's bad for you. But so is virtually any prepared food if you eat it three times a day constantly for a month.

So go ahead, splurge on a burger. Have the large fry. Just don't have it three times a week.

That's about 900 calories or nearly half of the daily allowance for an average male. It includes 50% of your day's fat allowance, 90% of your day's cholesterol, and over 60% of your day's sodium. 118g of carb's, too (low-carb cereal has about 20g, less healthy cereals like oat squares have maybe 40g).

http://app.mcdonalds.com/bagamcmeal?process=home

Hope you're skipping lunch & having a salad for dinner on *those* days!

That's the sad thing . . . low-income families subsisting on fastfood. But that's another issue.

I avoid fast food as much as I can. I can count the number of times I've eaten fast food this year on one hand. I avoid it for many reasons: It's bad for you, it makes me feel ill after eating it, I've got food poisoning twice from a McD's , it's anti-worker's rights.

Read this book:
