I record a demo tomorrow...

Yes, I know, he shoot one or two flares to me, and fly away in the original D2. But in D2X-XL, he STOPS in front of me, he only start moving when I collide with him.

It's nice to hear about that, finally. This could be a bug, you know? :P I have a habit to fix d2x-xl bugs, you know? ;)

I never watch demos showing bugs, btw. Either I can reproduce it, or I (usually) cannot fix it anway - demo or not.

Please. Give me a last version? 1.5.86 :)

Yeah, let's forget about the GB. Wingnut doesn't make critical amount of damage with his flares.

BTW the d2 exit and the d1 load game bug doesn't comes out with the old menu style.

What kind of gfx hardware do you have? This works fine with a GF FX 5200 and Radeon X800 XT PE for me with '-render2texture 1'.

Actually this only looks like the texture stretching and positioning values are wrong on your 1st screenie.

Where can I get this level? It's COOL!

AGP, BFG Nvidia 6800 Ultra 256MB card. Latest Driver version is 81.98.

D2X-XL tries to adjust camera output depending on the target (monitor) face dimensions. Somehow this seems to be going very wrong on your hardware. I am however clueless why (well, maybe the driver is optimizing texture dimensions on your hardware). I have it working perfectly on both ATI and NVidia hardware.

I'm not to worried about....
I can live with it. 8)

I will see whether I can provide a fix.

I think the D1 exit crash is related to the sound system. I turned off the MIDI music (set the volume to the minimum), because I listened MP3s with Winamp in the background during I played. The exit sequence started correctly, when the Pyro fly out from the tunnel in the surface, D2X-XL crashed with an error message. With MIDI music, it crashed without any error message when I go throught the exit door...

:?

That's interesting, I will try that.

Escorter,

What was the error message?

by Escorter
My WIndows is hungarian, and I can't translate the error message (now). So it's not very usefull for you, but it's here:

Image

It says the instruction in the memory adress 0x77f53741 can't execute the procedure \"written\" on memory adress 0x08364092

Posted: Thu Jan 12, 2006 1:56 pm
by Diedel
D2X-XL is trying to write to a memory address that it must not write to.

Great. Just great... :(

Knowing the error message or at least what the error message was trying to say may be helpful.

Again no crash here. Only a palette problem when playing back the moon surface part of the exit sequence at some occasions.

Diedel, it's possible to put a debug mode compiled D2x-XL executable to your page?

When I runned D2X in debugger, the crash not happenned.
But I'm no longer using MSVC, and I don't want to reinstall it.

Looks like the latest version has problems with the D1 mssion:

It happens when I start a new D1 game, too...

As I looked into this bug, I wondered how this could ever work.

Fixed.

COOL! You fixed the exit crash. (No exit tunnel movie, but who cares?)

You're a GOD!

Posted: Sun Jan 15, 2006 2:30 am
by Diedel
I am not a god, and I am not aware of having removed the exit movie. If so, I will re-enable it, but I can add a switch to suppress it, that might help you, too. ;)

D2 uses D2 animations to replace the D1 animations, and that might not work perfectly any way. Live with it. I tried to change this, but it proved to be too difficult.

Nice work, Diedel!
The exit tunnel movie doesn't crash any more!!!!!!!!!!

But I discovered a problem: no briefing in D1 missions.
It's possible to fix it?

The pain never stops ...

OK, let's forget about the briefing. It's not necessary.

Thanks again for the exit sequence fix!

Escorter,

you shouldn't take everything I say so personal.

I am grateful for bug reports. I hate it if my software has bugs.

Bug fixed.

The latest version can't load D1 savegames
