+1. :P

Sad what happens when I play D1 through 3 times in 3 months. I finally finished on Insane, though.... my life is now complete.

Try doing a Time Trial.

Level 27
On Insane
With Entire Map Explored
No Deaths
10 minutes or Less

There are 30 levels in Descent, 27 regular, and 3 Secret.

However, the final boss of Descent 1 is in Level 27.

So you either have to play the game all the way through, or just Warp to level 27. (you cannot warp to level 30 as it does not exist)

I lost just short of the yellow key... but I didn't expect much more on a laptop keyboard. :P I'll try again later on a real computer.

I can't beat Descent on Ace! Pfft, got to level 8, but now I run out of lives (I start out with one, but manage to get a second, but I lose that one too!)

Those robots that shoot vauss/gauss/vulcan piss me off, they always hit me no matter what, its nearly impossible to not take at least 10 dmg when they attack!

Even the experts usually have to resort to the old homer/conc/laser around the corner trick to kill them without taking damage. Fortunately just one homer, concussion missile or full spread quad 4 shot is all it takes to kill them. Generally you can pick them off by peeking around the corner and shooting from an angle where they don't shoot you. They always aim for the exact center of your ship, so you can also sneak both wingtips out for a shot and they won't shoot back.

I have found that doing the Time Trial requires a method. When you start out in Level 27, open the Left Door (Do NOT advance into that room yet), and fire off a Conc. Missle to hit the vulcan guy at the other end of the room, then slide down to hide until the missle meets the target.

Once the vulcan guy is dead, open the door again (Don't go in yet) and from a distance, kill off the Quad laser guy on the left.

Once he is gone, open the far door to that room, and fly as fast as you can through that room in to the other room (This is to avoid the rapid fire conc. missle dude that is still in there - if you fly quick enough, he won't chase you).

In that other room you will pickup Level 4 Lasers and 2 smarts, grab the smarts, then go back and kill the Rapid Fire Missle guy (Shoot them into the floor in the middle of the room and let the bomblets do their job).

Now two rooms are secure - and you should have 1 Smart, Level 4 quad Lasers, Spread Fire Cannon, an Invul, a Cloak, and a stash of Smarts & Megas (via secret doors).

One thing that works too, is Vulcan vs. pretty much any robot. While they are being blasted with Vulcan, they generally don't fire back at you. So use the vulcan when you can on those rapid fire guys.

I'll let you figure out the rest

KB/Mouse.. I was having some issues during the demo though. I have a Wireless KB and mouse..

It would not allow me to Tricord and Bank at the same time, so it slowed me down a bit at times.
