Isn't as funny when you get a referral for making a fountain in the school cafeteria :P

I like the one where they emulate the famous fountain from the Bellagio in Vegas:

The real Bellagio:

Holy snot!! What causes it to do that? Some kind of chemical reaction. I'm never eating Mentos with coke.

Yeah, that makes me curious: could that happen in your stomach?

Find the Mentos + dry ice videos on there. I like those much more than with ordinary coke.

I tried this in 6th grade in the cafeteria. It worked perfectly. Sucks that my mom worked at the same elementary school. I was pretty much owned.

Anywho, if you wanna be an ahole, just drop one in someone's soda.

I find it hard to believe that no one has eaten a mentos and then sipped a coke. You would have heard about it by now. :)

you can drink a liter of diet coke and pop dozens of mentos, it won't kill you

the reason they use diet coke and not regular is because sugar molecules are huge and impeed the 'explosion'

I'd volunteer, except I don't want to. :P

And sucralose (aka Splenda) molecules are small? This page shows them to be about the same size.

Diet coke has a lower density than regular coke. If you take both a can of diet coke and a can of regular coke, put them in a basin of water, the diet coke will float.

Also, sugar molecules are like molasses, they tend to stick and clump together. Ever drink a diet coke? It has a much lower viscosity than regular coke.

That wiki article shows the components of an individual molecule, but nowhere could I find a scale.

A molecule of Chlorine gas is much larger than a molecule of Chlorine liquid; now, my chemistry isn't that great, but I assume the same coorelation can be made with molecules composed of different atoms in the same state.

Edit: I see. You're talking about Cl2, not Cl atoms.

like I said, chemistry was never my niche :P
