You know, I really don't see much of anything new that the iPhone brings to the market. Just the all touch pad design (which isn't a new idea, either). Just about everything it has is already out there, and has been out there for some time.

The spoof commercial is great.

People who like iPhones are morons. Talk about lack of taste and intelligence.

Obviously you're just trying to provoke a reaction, but still I don't think that's a fair comment.

I'll just stick with my plain old boring flip phone. When I drop it it doesn't break.

Also my phone won't be replacing meat as the most stolen item like the iPhone.

No I wasn't. It's a boring, trendy, typical pile of crap. It has no aesthetics, no innovation. It looks like a toy for preschoolers.

Apple has always come out with the worst looking stuff on the market, and the mainstream idiots jump all over it when there are plenty of other, better products. I guess commercials really do work on the feebleminded.

I agree; this is nothing new, we already have all this functionality out there. If this things succeeds, it will once again be due to the mysterious pull of Apple's branding and marketing. With a little help from the clueless popular press. Aside from the comments so far, I would add these two observations:

(1) They choose Cingular as a carrier? Cingluar is consistently one of the worst carriers in most areas. They should've gone with Verizon.

(2) Portable consumer electronics are notoriously short lived. Who wants to shell out $500 for a phone every year or two? Oh, wait, I know; cityfied yuppies and rich kids.

True. Cingular users (like my room mate) have trouble with coverage here in texas.

How fragile can this be? No buttons (save the on/off button) and a touch screen that probably still works even being 100% wrapped in leather/plastic armor like the ipods. And a cityfied yuppy sure drives a nice car! I'll give you notice when i reach that point.

The display will crack if you drop it.
