Well... what ya think? I already got one 7950... soooooo....
Meh, by the time DX10 is required for the vast majority of games, current DX10 cards will be ★■◆● compared to what's out by then. (And also there is the thing about DX10 requireing Vista.) Personally I'd go with 2x 7950's and save some dough for when the better DX10 cards are out. But it's a personal choice really, if you have the money and if you have a game that looks awesome with DX10 and you can't do without it, blow the cash. 
DX9 performance on the 8000 series are better, however, not enough to warrant the cash atm IMHO.

The real card you need to compare in that chart is the 8800 GT vs the 7950 GX2. Since he wants to know if getting a new card and going the SLI route will work better than getting a single 8800 GT it is the best comparison. And yes, the 8800 GT is still faster than the 7950 GX2. The other reason is a single 8800 GT uses only slightly more power than a 7950 GT, while a SLI 7950 GT will use almost double the power.
But the main thing is people should just stay away from SLI, it is just a plain bad idea currently unless you have a lot of money to waste and want a ultra high end system. The problems you get from having SLI are not worth the performance returns, especially if there are relatively inexpensive single cards available that are faster.

My current system is pretty high end at the moment... e6600 processor... asus p5b deluxe mobo 2... 2 gigs ram...7950 gs oc Vid....
