Descent MMO?

Post by Sllik »

Well, not exactly. But as close to one as I've been able to find. Vendetta Online was another close contender, but horribly outdated and generally un-fun imho. This, however, in its to-be-released-later-this-year state, looks very promising indeed:

these games are looking so amazing visually. If only Virtual Reality display technology would catch up - the immersion would be awesome

hm. more like a freespace MMo ..er. wait. .. that would be Eve. :)

I wish they would come up with some spave game that looked as good as B5. That isn't beyond what we're seeing these days.

That reminded me of Hunter's Basewar series.

A space game based on B5 wouldn't be a bad idea either... at least there's a decent story to build on that way!

(Well, there was that FS2 mod, I suppose.)

HERE is probably one of THE best B5 sim to date.

It's free and it's accurate.

oh, this isn't a FS2 Mod. This is a stand alone game. Starfuries act like starfurries. you can spin 180 while moving on another vector.

Give it a try!

Karash, the original {PPG}Achillies (I think), and references to Sekmu. ;) Trippy flashbacks abound! I PMd Karash and told him to come over and say hi, so we'll see. Hehe....

Tried the B5 Sim... couldn't get the interface to work properly... Got to the !@@#$%^ jumpgate... couldn't line it up properly... Mission Failed! So the game got deleted quickly!

Hope this game has REAL Joystick Controls like Freespace 1 and 2.

Personally miss the Space Simulations that include Joystick controls instead of leaving it out then they say get \"joymouse\"! It is NOT a Space Sim without joystick controls... It is a RPG in Space without Joystick Controls!

(*** Cough *** Freelancer *** Cough ***)

Really liked Freelancer... but there was NO way for my to steer with just a mouse... my reflexes aren't like they were in my 20's... At 50, almost 51, I don't recover as fast as I used to do so.

Wheeeeeee!

The whole jumpgate mission is tough. I got lost the first time.

Go through the tutorial at the beginning and play some skirmishes to get a handle on the controls. This is a true 6DoF ship. There is sliding and vector break rotation. It isn't easy. My controls work fine with it.
