My first Snowy Owl

Post by CDN_Merlin »

Not the all time greats but for a first time I was lucky. I traveled about 45 min out of town to get this based on directions from a bird email list. I spotted him about 1 hour after I arrived.

He was on the ground at first and then flew to a nearby pole. Then flew to the 4th pole down. By then I was to cold and hockey was starting in a hour.

Hmm, I thought all snowy owls were supposed to have funny expressions and say things like \"Is that so?\" or something...

Well, since these guys only come down to my area for winter and we only see them during the day in mostly rural areas I didn't get a chance to hear him.

He wasn't very talkative. :D
