The original publisher of Descent, "Interplay" updated their website after a long time again, providing some kind of teaser which is insinuating another sequel of Descent. Check it out yourself!

I could draw a shield orb in five minutes. It doesn't mean I have the funding to make a Descent game.

Who would pick the third option? This is the descentBB

There are people (myself included, and proud of it!) here who will complain about particular titles within the Descent series, but usually not the series as a whole or they wouldn't be here.

arrg....i need to update myself more often...thanks though.

Why don't we start a petition or something to show them how many people would like a Descent sequel more than anything else that might come first?

Because it's highly unlikely that, given their apparent financial situation, anything will "come first". Personally, I doubt we'll ever hear of any new Interplay games at all.

The fact that they put up an image on a website without any actual content says a lot.

Online petitions are always meaningless, particularly in this case. The best news you can hope for is someone buying the Descent IP, but it's simply not in the same league as Fallout. I'd be surprised if many developers even remember it.

Why doesn't somebody email one of the Interplay employees and see if they have any info to give out?

Probably most of us old timers here Know that Interplay and former Parallax are at a legal impasse with Descent with each party holding critical parts of the franchise.

Notice there is no image of Descent on that front page? All their old titles are there, but not Descent.

Except that big shield orb on the top left...

oh...that

lmao.. I totally missed that! (obviously) I saw it as part of the MDK (?) image.

It's not exactly what I would have considered as a shield orb other that it being round and blue.

oops!

I've not seen a orb that looks like that. That and I've seen that character put against the moon background.

Are you suggesting that Clinton had sex with \"that woman\" but didn't realize it? :)

It is pretty much the same Blue Orb that is on the Descent3 Cover Art. How could you not have seen it?

probably because I still think of shield orbs in D1/D2 fashion. Never cared for the D3 orb, so basically I've not noticed it.

*edit*

My \"busy Icon\" for my mouse pointer is an animated shield orb!

If it's true, then wow.

I honestly didn't expect to see that at all. I didn't think we'd ever hear anything serious from Interplay again.

According to the article, they got nearly $6 million from the sale and investments related to their plans for the Fallout franchise, and have stated plans for sequels to some of their popular games:
The article wrote:At the same time, the company will leverage its portfolio of gaming properties by creating sequels to some of its most successful games, including Earthworm Jim, Dark Alliance, Descent, and MDK.
I hope it's true, and not just the same ol' hype we've heard in the past.

just an FYI... Interplay Stock is currently at just under 6 Cents per Share.

Now might be a good time to invest :-)

Throw $50 or $100 at it, get a bunch of stock and sit on it for 2 or 3 years.

EA is over $50
Activision is around $27
and THQ is around $22

Buying Shares at 6 cents per, and maybe in three years being worth say, $5 - $10. Nice return!

Alternatively, in three years they could well be worth $0.

Agreed. It would be very suprising to see Interplay climb out of the ashes that have been scattered by the four winds.

Then again, it could just be our pessimistic (realistic) view of things that is making the higher-ups in Interplay want to make a game, then again, that isn't enough within itself to get funding to flow.

If D4 comes to the market, hopefully it can fight Crysis. Two top of the line visual games would be an awesome PC game war.

Concerning stock:
If all supporters of Interplay games put $10 into their stock, then the stock would rise like crazy considering Interplay would have even more certain means to come back as a real player. You invest $10 today, and when D4 comes out, you have $3000 for a gaming rig that can run it.
