How the years have passed..

Post by Omega_redest »

Hi i'm new to the community..
I didn't know that the soul of descent still lives on in others.
I'm 26 yrs old and a programer...
are there still any online games on the old descent games happening?

p.s.
If any one is interested i shared a port of descent for the psp.. it runs on the new firmware 5.00.
Check the old school thread.

You'd think with all the programmers that love this game we'd have a private game server on a university computer or something... But 20 bucks isn't terrible...

You musta posted same time as me Octopus. Yeah agreed a dedicated server would be awesome, but at the moment Kali is the best bet for a game. Something along the lines of what D3 has would be perfect, but the effort is probably not worth the use it would see. I guess I'm 8 years too late for the best damn game ever made =/

Too busy working on Computer Projects and Writing Leading Edge Software... Hard to play everything that one wants to play any more.

Have worked the better part of 60 to 80 hours in the last week in about 6 days.

I have all the Descent 1, 2, and 3 CD-Roms in very good condition in their cases and inside some nice plastic boxes to protect them.

Just have to reinstall them and play them again.

Formatted a new hard drive in the last 2 weeks... slowly reloading game software to the new drive.

And yes, Time sure flies... This summer I'm attending my 34th High School Reunion. That means that my age is 52 now.

Wheeeeeee!

What about paying for a domain and server space for descent games? How much bandwidth per month would be needed for that? Is something like that even possible?
