Didn't see any notice in the forums but some of you old guys may want to know that Andy Blalock aka Bama passed away on Friday. He was a good friend of mine and I will miss him a lot. I know that many of theold timers here will also.

Godspeed Andy,
Ice out ...

Man. :(

Yeah, I do remember that guy pretty well, especially from Wildcards and when he was running descent3.net (or at least a contributor of some sort).

What happened, Iceman? I didn't think he was that old...

Sad Day

I am not sure anyone really remembers me, I am Zonerie.

I did a lot of work with and for Bama with Descent3.net I did some artwork, and ran the Wildcards for a time.

I often talk about the Lan parties, and the fun I had, and the friendships gained and lost. I miss everyone, I remember talking with Bama for hours last year about his favorite game he had turned to Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2. We talked about Koolbear, and Tiger Raptor, and the Rambo Lan parties, and Buzz and my daughter, Tweety.

I told him that he was still the king of the Mega... I remember the tourneys the ladders, and how he loved going to Las Vegas with his son Whodat. Sfuzzi, Sandman, Wavetrade, Nike1.

When Fatal won the 50k he said it was like the superbowl. I miss those times, but he was part of our family, he was one of my best friends for a long time. He was someone I will think of often and will talk about how he was the best at a lot of things.

Bama, keep the bots at bay until I can be your wingman one day.

Zonerie

p.s. I now play World of Warcraft of the Eldre'Thalas Server. I now run my own photography studio in Indiana, and you can reach me @ milesfork.com or myspace.com/silverpine

Take care

Well, I remember Bama really well. The first D3 DemiGod, if I remember properly. Always fun to play with, but it was hard to kill him.

OMG!!!!! :(

Bama and I go waaaaaaaay back, I havent talked to him in a few years. we were quite close during and after our Wildcard days he actually got me to join, I remember the old Stadium days, and yes he was the king of the Mega. I got the priveledge of meeting him at Suncoast 2, and after that we transitioned into BF 1942 and would cause havoc there. a class individual and a true Southern Gentlemen. he will remain in my thoughts for the rest of my days

is there a cause??? I know a few years back he told me he had extremly high level of arsenic in the system, and they were looking into the cause, he was suspicious because there was no natural reason.

I remember Bama very well. I actually modified a few of his favorite D3 maps to insert his favorite weapon, the Earthshaker. Bama's Revenge, Zonerie, you remember that?

He was insane fun to play with. He will certainly be missed. Rest in piece, man. :(

Early on I mentioned my age on these forums and I noticed I got my first ever PM and it was from Bama. Turns out he and I were near the same age. We wound up talking on the phone a few times. I thought what a class act that he would get a hold of me like that.
You will be missed.

I was one of the younger ones to play Descent. I talked to Bama quite a few times, he was like the grandpa i had never met ;) such an amazing guy, very sweet, and he has in one way or another touched everyone in the d3 community. He will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace Bama.

It was nice to have known Bama. I first met him at the D3 50k tournament after having played him in the D3 demo for several months and later when D3 was released. He was definitely the guy to beat.

Met him, shook his hand and hung out with him off and on in Vegas those few days.

Fun times.

He will be missed.

Lots of Descent history cataloged at Descent3.net thanks to Bama. I believe we moved it over to PD for longevity of archive and I guess it worked. It's been up for 10+ years!

He will be missed. RIP.

There should be a tiny wing badge to add to his avatar.

He sounds like a nice guy. I'm sorry I never knew him.
