Well, I'm pretty sure of it, but has anyone been to planetdescent.net? I just found it right now and I'm wondering what is the difference between it and the .com counterpart?

.com if memory serves is an old Gamespy site. .net is privately owned and operated.

.com has just about anything \"Descent\" you will need. ..plus a number of broken links that are very out of date.

Yup.

Also, there is more activity going on at pd.net than at pd.com.

.com pretty much died. .net is way more stable and doesn't have any URL bugs.

TechPro, if you know that the site is not trafficked very much, is buggy and not gamespy supported, why do you still post soupes and announcements and stuff?

Well, he hasn't recently because there has been no traffic at .com. He used to when there was at least a little traffic.

Everyone has basically moved over to .net because of the absence of bugs. The only real problems with it are the tiny font sizes. And IMHO,it just seems a little more fun. I really do think it is because of the userfriendlyness.

Yeah, news to me as well - there are really only two Descent sites I frequent though (this one and descent2.de). PD.com is great for the file archive/links to levels and so on from time to time though. I just don't need them very regularly.

just waiting for gamespy to lay down their rights

\"planetdescent\" \"planetgamename\" blah blah

they should have made it \"pd.net\" then they would have been safe
