Seems plenty successful to me, since it is actually running on the machine already (the little 4 color shield icon in the systray == the virus). :P

Holly Desktop Nightmare... you are aware pounding your desktop with dl's, install files, and all those icons wreak havoc with performance and security issues. Beware the large file lock... have fun.

More fail would be typos in the code itself.

When you have to much megabytes on your desktop, you won't be able to log into it. Takes about 800 megs. Seen it at work here. You have to move files off the desktop and only have shortcuts.

seriously? What when the files are in folders on the desktop?

Posted: Fri Jan 22, 2010 10:19 am
by CDN_Merlin
If you create folders on your desktop and put files in them, it's the same thing. You need to start using shortcuts to folders on your hard drive.

Lol!! I have had dvd isos sitting on my desktop before. Those are definitely larger than 800megs. Computer myths, gotta love them.

The key to having fun with myths is not to throw around concrete terms...

Anyways, It always surprises me how scared I get when my computer gets infected.   I feel a chill down my spine and then a moment of terror followed by brief panic before I calm my thoughts and realize that its been taken care of...

well, that's just a good idea at work so you won't loose data if you have a crash. I'll test this at home tonight. I've had well over a gig on my desktop at home. Make sure you don't have any shared folders on your desktop or anywhere else if you're Not at a LAN.

As a 17 year old, do you think I'd have porno links on my desktop? :P

Posted: Sun Jan 24, 2010 7:00 pm

A lot of 17 year olds would, as long as they weren't afraid of mommy finding out.

What surprises me is they don't appear to be mech-porn.

I'm always cleaning those up from the comments of the .NET source of my coworker (who doesn't use Visual Studio).

Speaking of which, does this count?

Third and fourth methods in the list. Somebody is never going to live that down.

No point in starting another one of these treads. So I'll post this here.

While I was getting ready to start testing Ashampoo Anti-Malware. I just now ran into a rogue that uses live support. Called Security Antivirus.

As you can see its live!

You really must love the Gerbil pr0n sites

Once again the fact that it is running on your Machine makes the \"Malware\" successful

not necessarily Bubba. I got one off a gaming news site this morning while I was at work. It was very similar to this one and the bad thing is, it got embedded before I could say boo. I knew what it was and I turned off the box, but it was too late. :\\ Norton is worthless. (company's choice, not mine...)

You really love picking fights.

I get these off of website called Malware Domain List. Like many people I take an interest in this sort of thing.

Also take a look at the second picture a little closer. See the little logo on bottem that says VMware. That crap isn't going any where.

Firefox + AdBlock(addon) ++++++ NoScript(addon)

Surf anywhere safely - unless you allow the wrong site

So Duper, TiggerFKS, Add them and Stop being noobies

BTW I did see the VM box in the second pic when i scanned it's taskbar for the quad shield, stripped shield and red 8k display error X

To go back to my post about having to much info on your desktop, this happened to a client of mine at work (on a domain). I had to bring his PC to my office and log in with my admin account and move all his desktop files to another location and then he could log back into his account.

I’m all too familiar with the threats of today and yesterday. There is nothing that I cannot handle. In fact, I honestly don’t even remember the last time my PC was infected.

Also I do run NoScript and AdBlock Plus with Firefox.

I got hit today at work (again) via IE 7 and I wasn't even browsing anything! o_0 Mine you, this is 20 minutes in from plugging my box back in after getting it back from tech support. Anti virus quarantined it, but still!.
