Does anyone have an app with a 'save' icon that's not a picture of an old floppy disk?

Every single one of my applications have that image for their save icon. And it's been about ten years since one of my computers had a floppy drive. I kind of expected it to be replaced with some internationally elected symbol, by now. However, if it stays the same, I won't mind telling the ancient tale of the 'Icon of Save', in my old age. \"Ach! The legends be true! Aarrrrgh!
Twas a time when they still beee fish in the sea, an' clouds in the sky...
Arrrrgh!\"

you don't think large enough. even if there'd be an \"international agreement\" on how to change it, millions of users, who are barely able to start word, won't find the save button anymore.
i'm sure you can think of many more examples like this. like \"talk to someone by chat/email\", \"download\", \"flash drive\" etc. you can \"print\" to the screen, a pdf, a fax or a printer.

the disc button is associated with save for at least two decades, why would you want to change that? and into what of all the different media today? or a common image? what would be more associated than an image of some form of media? a pen? that's even more outdated and much further away from what it's meant to imply in this case.

as already pointed out, this is pointless ...

The legacy of the floppy disk...

That reminds me - way back when I was fixing computers at CompUSA, I once had an irate customer proclaim to me while waving a floppy disk: \"...and why do they call them floppy disks anyway, they're not floppy!\"

I felt like grabbing it from him right there, cracking it open and waving the disk at him - see, floppy? I thought better of it and just walked away.

:D

Did you give him a technical explanation. Like \"A floppy disk is a data storage medium that is composed of a disk of thin, flexible (Finger quotes floppy) magnetic storage medium encased in a square or rectangular plastic shell.\"
