Ultimate alarm clock

Dear Interneters,
I've been using my laptop, hooked to regular speakers and a subwoofer, to wake me up in the morning. It hasn't been working out. If one component fails the whole thing doesn't work, and you don't find out until 9am (that's too late).

There's another solution I tried where you drink lots of water before you go to bed and wake up having to use the restroom. It works great, but I wake up at 1 or 3 AM (that's too early).

I'm not buying a rooster.

I sleep through every regular alarm even going to bed at 10pm.

Going to bed at 8am has me naturally wake up at 6am (Me likeeee sleep). The problem is I'm still at school at this time.

I trade an octopus for an answer to my problem:Image

Just have someone throw a bucket of ice water on you. That will get up ASAP!

Does light wake you up? or only very loud sound?

Not sun light.

Is there a clock that does this? I could get creative with what's in the bucket.

I'll send my Dad over for an ice cold 5 gallon bucket of water on the head and kick in the arse... free of charge. Maybe you got mono licking cutlery.

a friend told me of something that helped her. An alarm clock that simulates sunlight, but much brighter. She never rises due to natural sunlight, but this apparently does the trick.

not sure if this the thing she meant, but have a look:

Do you fall asleep at 10, or just get into bed at 10 and waste time till you fall asleep?

I'm going with a kick in the butt before I go this route.
Spidey wrote:The only thing that has ever worked for me is, regimenting my biological clock.
But what time are you going to bed?

That's exactly what I was thinking about when I asked about light.

I think you need to BUILD an alarm clock. Either one that has some incredible extra volume, or perhaps one that activates a small motor that shakes the entire bed. (just don't make it so that you have to put in a quarter!)

oh man ain't that the truth... I used to have such a hard time waking up. Now I get up at 4 am and 8 am whether or not he's fussing, because he will be within minutes.

I'm pretty sure I'd die in my sleep if I tried to build one.

“But what time are you going to bed?”

Doesn’t matter…as long as it’s the same every night.

add this (be aware that this can cause damage to your ears, freak out neighbours, etc.):

another way is to set your bed up to tip over, especially if you have a small pond set up in front of your bed.

Load that on your mobile phone as an alarm. You will wake up.

Sleep? What the hell is this thing called sleep? I haven't had a good sleep cycle for 12 years now. Ahhhhhhh, to be young again! Count your lucky stars that you can sleep SOOOO deep that you have trouble waking up.

It looks complicated (and probably is unless you have even a little experience), but it looks really effective.

"Your Screaming Meanie 220 also makes sure you wake up because of the unique way you turn off the alarm."
"The final alarm also makes you press three buttons at the same time...so you have to be awake to do it. (It's a Meanie! It won't let you oversleep.)" (http://www.the-perfect-present.com/Page ... ories.html)

Bahahahahahah!!! Nice.

You could even try wiring an electronically operated air compressor valve to the speaker circuit. No relay crap needed. And said air compressor would be hooked to a nice train horn set...

If you use my idea, please video it.

If you're killed this alarm clock it has to be put on your tombstone: "Killed by an alarm clock."

A plan I had (but never realized) was to not only have an alarm clock but also a coffee machine connected to the timer. It would turn on 5 minutes before the alarm, and brew coffee directly into a cup. I reckoned I would wake up much more esily with the smell of coffee in my nose, and the prospect of just havign to reach over to have one, than just with the alarm clock.
