On the other hand, Isaac, where else can you buy a new car (a copy of Fiat) for 4.5 thousand dollars? At least we have people even with low incomes can afford to buy a new car. These cars go for at least 2 years without requiring any maintenance. If the Russian metropolises indecent many Mercedes, BMW, Range Rover, Cadillac,Jaguar, Ferrari, Bentley and Maybach in the maximum configuration or by tuning firms, in the Russian province you will be glad to any car, believe me
By the way, on the whole territory of Russia, which is located east of the Ural Mountains, is still the only and the best means of transport are military equipment, tracked all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles and reindeer. This is best. In most cases, you will not be able to reach remote villages to the taiga without a helicopter. Do not make me laugh, I beg you :) Welcome to Russia!

I would have laughed with you on these fun pictures, only Arctic Cat and Polaris deaf and do not start in our winter conditions. In addition, they constantly break down. The best snowmobiles and outboard motors in Russia - is Yamaha. The best and most reliable SUVs in Russia - Russian. So do not be here to present advances in the world industry as success of industry the U.S., OK?

Siberia is probably best compared with Alaska. (Except bigger.) If you're going cross-country, you'd better be prepared for it.

This is true, Sirius. Any technology has a very limited capacity , especially in the vast territory of Siberia and the primitive nature . If you're going to go hunting or fishing trip in Siberia, never go very far from their guides . Each of your thoughtless step can lead to tragedy. Every summer in Russia bears and wolves eat dozens of foreign hunters and fishers who ignore the advice guides. I 'm not talking about winter. Briefly speaking , winter, deer and dogs will become your closest relatives. Your companions will be forever for you to friends. Because for hundreds of miles around will not be anybody else who can help you. You will never forget the help and moral support of your friends, so you can come back home alive . I do not want to scare you, but if you can survive the winter in Siberia on the hunt , you can be proud of the rest of his days.

Of course, the rest in Russia is very attractive. You are unlikely to get as much enjoyment anywhere else. But I mean not normal tourists, but REAL hunters and fishermen, who pay with their lives for their self-confidence.

Sigma will never be as patriotic as me:

Image

O say can you see,
by the dawn's early light,
what so proudly we hailed
at the twilight's last gleaming,
whose broad stripes and bright stars,
through the perilous fight,
o'er the ramparts we watched,
were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare,
the bombs bursting in air,
gave proof through the night
that our flag was still there.
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
o'er the land of the free
and the home of the brave?

O thus be it ever,
when freemen shall stand
between their loved homes
and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace,
may the heaven-rescued land
praise the Power that hath made
and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must,
when our cause it is just,
and this be our motto,
"In God we trust."
And the star-spangled banner
in triumph shall wave
o'er the land of the free
and the home of the brave!

I advise you to say this brilliant speech in front of fugitive criminals and vagabonds, when they want to eat you in the nearby woods when you get out of the tourist bus to pee. Perhaps they will be surprised and you will be able to escape.

You will need a very good lawyers, so that they are able to prove your motives for self-defense. In 80% of cases, you go to jail for what you defend yourself with a weapon. And God forbid you to kill even a homeless person who attacked you, even with a knife. Your only weapon - it's a competent conversation with aggressive people. And your skills in combat sports. Otherwise it is better to run. This is the reality in Russia.

Nearly the entire country of Russia exists north of the 48th Parallel. It's way too cold there. I could never survive the winters. Then again, I would do everything I could to get away from living that far north. Also this Russian guy, Leon Theremin, was a very influential inventor and a hero of mine. I think Russia is a very exciting and interesting place, I just don't like their deemphasis on human rights.

Yes, Russia is very cruel climate. But you will find people here that make you become a real person and not a civilized zombies. I do not know if you can understand the meaning of this phrase...You can always find a place in Russia where you will no longer worry about human rights and other achievements of civilization. You just get rid of it all. If you want, in the taiga you can listen to a maximum of only one or two radio stations with music on the radio. But mostly you will only hear the talks hunters, geologists and meteorologists. This is the case if the weather is good. You will be able to be himself alone with the wild primeval nature. With all of the ins and outs of this life.

This is because Russia is of free country! Russia's second amendment is, you have a right to die and not defend yourself. Revolvers too dangerous for Russian citizen. Oppressed Texas allows anyone to carry shotgun openly. Oppressed people in Texas can buy any gun they want, because their laws are of prison state. This is because Texas not free. Nobody free in Texas. Russia is makings too much freedom.

I think what Sigma is trying to say is that he's not so "mindlessly" patriotic as you're saying he is (and I mean without your huge exaggerations).
But you're having fun. And we all know, when you're doing that, it's impossible to stop you. :P

So I'm not even going to try.

This is a very big topic. I would not want to spend my efforts wasted. For a start, you'd better take advantage of the services of travel 'Service. But if you can find here a good Russian friends, you will have the opportunity to know the real Russia. It will transform your whole life. It is rarely possible to foreigners, but if you can, perhaps you will remain here forever :)

Visiting Russia, sure! I'll try it. Living in Russia? uhh... maybe not...
The only big problem for me is the hard core Massachusetts style gun laws in Russa. In fact Massachusetts actually has fewer restrictions than Russia. I read that handguns are prohibited in Russia and I'd actually need a license to own a shotgun and own ammo! ?!?! And to own a license you've got to jump through all kinds of government hoops to get one. I mean, it's Russia! Russians should have access to all the amazing Russian guns that Texans buy all the time here! Yes, more Texans own Russian guns than Russians do. Did you know Russia made a gas sealed revolver? I've never shot one and I doubt I'll ever see one, since they're rare, but that's a cool idea! Do you even own a gun or is it just not worth the trouble?

I have no license for the weapon, as I go on the hunt infrequently and only at the invitation of friends. I do not know much about different guns. On the hunt I shot of ИЖ, Сайга and some other different rifle. I know well enough only a AK and a Makarov pistol . Because a lot of time spent with them in the army and I often shot of them on the range. A couple of times fired a machine gun . But now I shoot only from the air and traumatic guns at bottles on a fishing trip :)
Actually in Russia can buy everything. A lot of people have guns . But better do not fall into the hands of the police with illegal weapons . With a legal way, too . Even if your home has climbed a thief , you will have a very big problem if you kill him from his legal rifle .

There's a nation-wide ban on all handguns in Russia. As a law abiding citizen that means I wouldn't buy one were I to live in your country! I love revolvers! Especially single action 44 magnums. The fact these are banned in Russia is insane! Who the hell commits robberies with cowboy action guns? nobody!

We have a different mentality. This is both good and bad at the same time . Bad, because if you allow Russia to legally use firearms for self-defense, we shoot here all blue , Dagestani, Chechens , half of all managers executive authorities in the regions and half corrupt cops . Well, because I , like many law-abiding citizens , try not to use traumatic pistols unnecessarily. Because your opponent can always be fighting weapon . We have a lot of people from the power structures that can kill a person without any punishment. It's a hard topic ... But police still works and even the rich and powerful will have a lot of problems and unpleasant consequences to himself if he would kill an ordinary citizen . The vast majority of people still prefer to solve conflicts by peaceful means or by the police. Although the remote province are absolutely different rules. Very friendly Russian people really very do not like it when their rules of life are violated, to put it mildly.

Well Russians can get hunting rifles. It's just hard to do and yet those guys aren't going around killing people.

By the way, what do you think of this Ruger SP101?
(not mine)

It's not very big, as you can see (also an sp101 with a bobbed hammer):
