Free Speech and Parody...

Is protected in our Constitution, except when it's directed at a local police department without a sense of humor. One Ohio police department took exception to this guy's snarky little online parody and successfully prosecuted him in the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. So the parody rag, The Onion, stepped in and filed an amicus brief in his behalf to see if they could get the case overturned by SCOTUS as unconstitutional and a violation of this guy's First Amendment rights. Of course, The Onion has their own ulterior motives for filing this brief since they parody the authorities and government all the time for a living.

Fair Use hasn't been a thing for years... just look at how they copyright strike anything on Wikipedia even if it's clearly a parody or transformative work.
