162 MB, 45 minutes. Totally pointless? Check. Beyond l33t? Check.

Yes. Though he cheats a bit by taking all shortcuts he can, so some areas are almost completely skipped. No actual noclip'ing though, as far as I could tell.

how's it compare l33t-wise to the nightmare DOOM2 speed demos?

Alright, now that you've said it, I'm gonna reinstall D1 and make some wicked videos.

oh man, I made 1 demo of each level, that went through the whole thing quickly, yet defeated every bot in the mine, collected all the powerups in the mine, hostages, and then blow the reactor. I used Insane mode and had no deaths. I started the demo at the beginning of the level, and let the demo cut itself off when I exited the level.

I'd like to go through and re-do them all, but it's too far gone to bother. I have to check my backup cd's from '95 to see if I have those demo's anywhere.

What was really great: watching this video alongside one of Half-Life's lead level designers. ;)

I remember playing marathon sessions of D1 singleplayer back before I had the net. I even had demos too. I think the full demo for it was something like ~400 megs or whatever...it was huge for a file back in 1997. especially considering I only had a 1.2Gig

Get 4 halfway good players in a D1 co-op game, and you can pass the levels insanely fast.
