Multimon software

Post by fliptw »

I've recently aquired another 17 inch monitor, and by virtue of my ownership of a 9600 pro, im using ATI's hydravision's software.

Im not too happy with it.

for one, the additional system menu entries that allow one to swtich windows between the two monitors appears incositantly... it sometimes appears on my firefox window, most of the time it doesn't.

I was wondering if there is any alternatives for this software.

I once used Ultramon. Was very simplistic and easy to use.

Just toss off hydravision and use windows built-in multimonitor managing if you're using an ATI card.

Another vote for Ultramon here. Although the last years worth of nVidia drivers include almost all of the same features, they still do not allow seperate process running taskbars like Ultramon does. So I still use it.

For ATI users, I imagine this software is a god send for multi monitor rigs.

I like Ultramon because I can choose to just run the smart taskbar program and not have all the rest of the stuff enabled that I dont need. I still like the nVidia dualhead sofware better, where I could have the system tray on the second screen.

Ultramon here, on the ATI.

At work I don't need it:
Strangely, to date, the best nVidia drivers are the notorious 44.03 "No Clipping Path" ones, which support dual-monitor task bar correctly. It is broken in later versions.
