Linux + DVD Copying

Post by fyrephlie »

Hello peeps...

i have to be honest here, i love linux, but i have not delved into the world of dvd copying via linux much. i have used winxp to do my dirty work on that front (since the only 2 burners i have are on machines i only use for that purpose anyway lol), but today i picked up a new burner (Plextor PX-740A) and decided that I haven't had enough to do lately, so I threw it into my main box, and now I am off and running...

I know it's been mentioned before, but linux folks, what are you using to get the job done ala DVDShrink?

I have played with k9copy already, and that seems pretty tight, but have read some folks talking about XDVDShrink and dvd::rip, the latter I will be playing with this evening... somewhere someone said something about Vamps Tools too...

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. I'll be poking around various linux forums waiting for replies here hehe.

I am looking for something for ripping the main title from dvd videos for 'fair use' dvd's, even thought it's a dl burner, i am still using sl discs. k3b works great already for burning, what i need is the 'ripping' part.
thanks :)
