Edward's idea sounds cool to me. I'm not sure if it can be done though. I don' know if the screen can be split when the card is in opengl mode. (but it is definitely possible at desktop mode)
Imho this kinda thing really fits descent 1/2, but it would ask a lot from the 3D card...4 screens yay:)

D2_3DFX still looks and plays better at 60 FPS and doesn't aggrivate my epilepsy nearly as often as any other Exe I've used.
I experience the 3dfx version as more laid back and cleaner in a matter of graphics, not nicer per se, but I can't tell why. But D2X has more features I like, so I use D2X ...

D2 W32 seems really near perfect to me know! All the "real" bugs (in single player...I don't do multiplayer) seem to be gone and it has probably all the features it should have.

I've tried out the non opengl reticle. A partial red sprite with gray edges appeared a few pixels above the reticle when I fired the lasers.

Hehe, the perspective had changed allright since the previous version...but it was not -exactly- like in descent II.
Now the reticle is ok I guess...but lol, have you noticed that you shoot from a different angle when you toggle between cockpit and normal view :)

bolt is ok now.:)
cockpit not quite yet...the viewangle is not exactly like in the original game (screenshots between dos versus d2x cockpit view differ when i load the first level) and the crosshair doesn't change "height" (on the screen, dunno how this is processed in 3D...it's not just shifted ...

The purple bolt that flashes as you enter a level doesn't render when:
-the first level is being loaded (you start the game from the menu)
-you load a level from the menu using "enter a level to start from"

I was wondering if you could implement transparent explosions like in the 3dfx version.
For some reason it really has this great feel to it imho.
