Yeah, that`s the fun of playing with some dead legacy code. You broke 2 additional things by fixing one thing :-)
Actually, it`s my son who likes to watch me play with the super speed cheat.
Other than that, I have absolutely no problem with 0.53, so you don`t have to rush out to do a new build ...

I had to revert back to 0.53, since upon using the cheat BUGGIN (Super-Speed), it`s impossible to rotate. It does go forward/backwards correctly, but rotating is completely messed up - i.e. it`s 100 times faster than it should be.

Yeah, that would be definitely great. But I can understand that not being a priority right now.
I believe some long time ago I`ve found some docs about the internal format of the level geometry, there was just some issue with extracting the level.

It`s just un-f*cking-believable that they at least don`t put a meaningful message, just a plain 404 error.
BTW, how much do you pay for your hosting ? Mine doesn`t impose any limit on traffic (forpsi). One month ago I switched to smallest hosting available under forpsi for about 0.99 EUR per month ...

Re:
Why would you want to run the OEM version when it's open-source now? Because that`s what I`ve got at home. While the source code can be open-source, the data aren`t free for all. Or is it an abandonware already ?

Re:
It's just that jags have never bothered me much as I've not been willing to take the performance hit in most games to eliminate them. (my boxes aren't bleeding edge.) Sure, my rig isn`t up to modern games too. After all, there`s only so much what a Core2Duo with a 7950GT can do. But for a Descent ...

Descent 2 - Destination Quartzon - does it work with D2x-XL?
I dusted off the old copy of Descent 2 (the 3dfx OEM version) and tried to install the D2X-XL using the available help resources. I copied files into proper dirs but it still didn`t run - error message says it`s missing menub.pcx (which isn`t there).
So, am I right that D2X-XL won`t work with this ...

Radiosity Lighting
First I set up a thread at a rebirth section but I was navigated here since D2X-XL is supposed to have colored lightmaps already, so it should be easier. But I`ll rather start from scratch:

Visual upgrade of Descent 1 - Radiosity Lighting
I`ve been thinking about this for quite a few years, probably since I managed to code a working radiosity renderer, so it`s not just an idea I got in a sudden inspiration rage.

Can I run Descent 1 in higher resolutions - like 2048x1536 ?
I`m starting Descent 1 with the file d1x143_oglmw.exe. Default resolutions (in menu) end at 1024x768.

Well, it seems I have misunderstood the needs of Descent community. While browsing another forums I noticed that many people would like to have another game like Descent, so my understdanding was that there is some market.
However, if you want a Doom3-quality game, it needs much bigger budget and ...

Is there a market (500 copies sold) for next \"Descent\
Hi there,
I`m from a small indie game-dev company and am considering possible future projects to develop.
One of them is obviously a remake of my beloved Descent.
We`ve got the engine, experience and some money to self-fund the development (art&music assets and programming). As for artists, there ...
