(1) run ./configure.
(2) edit conf.h. #define USE_SDL_MIXER 1 in it.
(3) make
(4) Should work. (if not, timidity and SDL-mixer have not been set up right for your distro; the instructions on the D2X-XL page should put you in decent stead.)
