Seems to be related to filenames / filename-lengths!

I always used renamed mission-files like \"Descent II - Obsidian.mn2 / hog\" instead of \"Obsidian.mn2 / hog\".

Now it seems like mission-names need to be <= 9 characters long:
- Vertigo.mn2 / Vertigo.hog -> works!
- VertigoXY.mn2 / VertigoXY ...

Yes, v1.14.66 fixed the \"OoM\"-error.
But no, it still can´t load any Obsidian-savegame.

Yet, in the meantime i found a not-even-remotely-nice-but-working solution:
- obviously the name of the matching mission has to be stored within the savegame
- so I searched and found the string \"Descent I ...

Cannot Load \"Obsidian\"-savegames in D2X-XL

Help (yet again)!

After having finished playing TEW (with great enthusiasm!) and after some quite stressful weeks I just wanted to start playing Ellusion Design´s \"Obsidian\".

Seems quite interesting so far...
only I can´t load any savegames :-(

I *can* save but whenever I try to load I get the ...

Concerning the Thiefbot:

I quite liked the idea of the Thief back when D2 was released and enjoyed the hunting until I reached Secret Level 2.

Due to a bug (?) or a savegame-error (?) or a catastrophic level-design-mistake (?) there were unlimited Thiefs there!
I destroyed one - another one ...

Yes, thats the one.

I destroyed all bots in the initial rooms on both sides (through the door) before picking one side to proceed - so I got 100% of the robots.
Yet it still nagged me to have to leave some nice stuff (2 megs, 1 life) behind because of the one-way-doors :-(

Yes, I did a 100% play-through:

- 100% hostages rescued
- 100% robots destroyed
- 100% secrets found, esp. all secret levels
(I like the \"having seen all of the game\"-feeling...)

Yet I have to admit that I made my life easier in three ways:
- I am a huge friend of save´n´load so I never really ...

done:

- rescued those hostages
- finished the final boss
- found the secret exit
- cleared the challenge level

- had a very great time doing so :-)

Solved!

It was a problem with the HiRes-texture-file \"metl086.tga\".

Now that I knew this was not by design I checked the following:
- updated from v1.14.27 to v1.14.34 - problem exists in both versions.
- what else was non-standard? HiRes-textures!

Deleting the file \"textures\\metl086.tga ...

Yes, I finally have reached Level 26 of the *great* TEW - so much fun!!

I destroyed nearly all bots and explored all rooms but one: I just can´t reach the hostages :-(
- the room can be reached only via a tunnel from the next room to the right
- that tunnel is opened by a switch *in* the closed ...

But please do not mind any more since I already moved on (currently in Level 10).

Being able to pick up the Ammo Rack and the Smart Mines *through the bars* was good enough for me :-)

Btw.: as far as I know this was completely impossible in original-D1/2 - seems to come with ...

There are 20 triggers in the level by now.
-> trigger-limit not hit (tried adding a 21st trigger - no problem there.)

Weirdly enough:
After flying wildly through the level I suddenly seem to *have* the Ammo Rack equipped.
One can pick up the barred items by just flying around close to the wall (at ...

That´s why I asked.
Nagging the player by showing him unreachable items doesn´t fit the fair style of TEW.

(btw.: it´s really nice - and fair! - of you to hide a fullmap in each level - thanks a lot for that!)

DLE shows that the two compartments are connected with no trigger at all and that one of ...

TEW Secret Level 2 - unreachable items in reactor roorm

In TEW´s secret level 2 (not Level 8 as I first wrote - sorry!) in the reactor room there are 4 compartments containing goodies.
There are 2 hidden switches, too.
One of them opens 2 of the compartments but the other one does nothing.

I checked in DLE and found this:
Cube 215, Side 1 = Trigger 12 ...

OMG, no!
Of course I know that there are two weapons for each slot in D2 :-)

But as long as abovementioned option was set I wasn´t able to use my Spreadfire cannon anymore at all after having picked up the Helix.

So although I quite well know that I had both cannons equipped, that both occupy slot ...

Turning off \"Smart Weapon Switch\" did the trick.
Thanks a lot!

I thought Smart Weapon Switch would just prevent you from accidently switching to \"harmful\" weapons like Phoenix, Gauss or Guided that might easily kill you in tight spots...

Yet I have to disagree on \"just an upgraded ...

Picking up Helix makes me loose Spreadfire (in TEW)

I´m playing TEW and just found \"My First Helix Cannon (TM)\" in Level 08.

Yet, as soon as I pick it up my trusty Spreadfire Cannon is gone :-(

Is this an intended behaviour in TEW?
Or is it a bug in current version of D2X-XL (1.14.27)?

I already played through D2 with an older version of D2X-XL ...

Unreachable Double Exit-Cube in D2, Secret 1 \"Segment

In Descent II´s 1st Secret Level \"Segment City\" I just found a double Exit-Cube:

The level has 4 exit-cubes that return you to the normal level you came from:
- behind the first door from starting point
- at the very far end of the level
- at the top of the reactor room
- and in the room opposite ...
