Heh, I think I found the answer in the internet archive ( www.archive.org ) - the first picture is a fake. Unfortunately, I've lost the link, but I'll post it as soon as I find it.

[Request for Kevin?] Fake or not?
I once downloaded some unofficial pictures of Descent3 before it was released and people were not sure whether they're original or fake.
Today I'd like to know if D3 ever looked like this:

Re:
Eh, it doesn't really matter to me. The .loki/descent3 is fine but it is probably confusing to anyone new who comes along as there are ways to install from the windows cds, not the loki ones. If it was just changed to ~/.descent3 that would probably make more sense.

Great work, really :) - I can't wait for the alpha test release - sometimes I can't even sleep :P
Just two questions: is there finally a \"-directip\"-commandline switch on Linux? And what about resolutions on Linux? (never got D3 working with my native resolution 1920x1080)
Keep up the good work ...

Introducing Descent3 installation program (TESTERS WANTED!)
As discussed in http://descentbb.net/viewtopic.php?t=16239&start=30 I am working on a program that can replace and extend the normal Descent3 setup program (setup.exe on your Descent3 CD-ROMs).
This is needed since the normal installer doesn't work on Windows Vista / Windows 7 anymore.

Well, actually installing the files shouldn't be too hard (I also had a look at \"unshield\"), but I actually don't think we can get it to work with every platform (a program which uses the same source code for all platforms won't be possible).
As I see, all you need to locate on a Windows D3 CD is ...

The racing mod will never be working, since its source is not open. I collected some sources of other mods people made, so now I have some working extra-mods for Linux, like Duel, Team Hoard, Team InstaReap, Frag Tag, Assault, BreakOut and Descentrix. Get them here for version 1.4: http://www.odf ...
