Let's Plan an Event

Hey guys! I just noticed that you can post events on GameSurge. Your event gets announced to the entire network and everyone gets told to go to the channel where the event is taking place. Let's plan some sort of an event on #Descent3. Anyone have any ideas on what it should be?

How about "Let's Bash Ace!" :P

Seriously, though, how about an event to explain what D3 is and why it is so unique? That might get a few takers.

Even just letting them watch in observer for a bit will get'em hooked.

There's a free multiplyer version of D3 out there isn't there? If we advertise around that we are going to hold a small training tournament, showing the players what real, hard D3 skill is (Suncho, that's your job ;)) then we can give them a small tourney of their own, and a few of the more experienced D3ers can observe and give flying tips. We can train the people who lose their matches, and perhaps offer some sort of prize to the winner (say a free full copy of D3, or maybe 2-3 to get his friends hooked on D3 ;)).

"Newbie Training Day" doesn't sound like it'll really attract the hardcore gamers.

I like the idea, but I think we need to put a spin on it that makes it feel as if there will be some fierce competition or they'll get to see something amazing that all hard-core gamers would want to see. Of course all that stuff is true...

No warez talk guys. We can't advertise a free game to distribute.

How about a discussion why people should buy D3?

by kurupt
because it will end in "because its damned neear impossible to find" or "it costs one dollar for every person playing online right now"

"Come one come all... to our exclusive discussion on how to buy Descent 3!"

Doesn't quite have a ring to it.

I think having some sort of tournament is a good idea. We gotta have a good prize though. Like maybe you get an interview posted at PlanetDescent... or... some money... or both or something.

I'd be willing to put up a little money for a tournament. Say $250? Anyone else care to contribute?

We could also make it a weekly thing with some sort of weekly prize.

i still think we should advertise a free game. free stuff attracts people. putting up money won't do much, cause nobody new would win it. they might see what the game is, then notice they can't win becuase they aren't good enough, and away they go.

Well... non-newbies wouldn't be eligible. =)

How 'bout this: Every friday we have a tournament for newbies. The winner of the tournament every week gets added to "the winners list" and gets to play me for $500.

We can't advertise free games or warez. It's against GameSurge policy (not to mention the DBB's).

well u will own thier ass, so there would be no point in playing for $500 :P

that doesn't mean that the prospect of $500 won't attract them. ;)
